SMSU is YOUR students’ union - run by you, for you

SMSU is a social enterprise, soon to be registered as a charity, which provides student-facing services.

It represents students and gives you a chance to input your views about your uni experience direct to the college authorities through its board and committee structure.

SMSU also adds value to your experience as a student by providing activities and extra-curricular learning opportunities through our sports clubs, cultural societies and various social events.

It provides a hub for a full and lively social life and creates a student community within which friendships are made and important networks are formed allowing you and your fellow students to support each other through your uni years and beyond…

SMSU is lead by two annually-elected officers: the Students’ Union President and the Athletics Union President.

It is supported by on full-time and two less-than full-time members of the staff: the general manager, office adminstrator and finance officer.
